The Florida Department of Education is rewriting the Florida Principal Leadership Standards. What are they putting into the new revision? Teachers now are required to teach social justice in the classroom. Social justice supports equality and solidarity in a society.
Equality is subjective and is also a tool for manipulating emotions. If I tell you enough times that the individual that owns a large home on the ocean has exploited all those who do not have the resources to be in the same position, you have been made "less equal."
Anyone that has studied for a midterm knows that not all students put in the same effort. The results are almost always a proportional ratio of time invested/success on exam. Social justice in the classroom, officially, is but another chip at the moral fiber of our society. It will promote mediocrity and further the demise of this great nation that was built on self-reliance, accountability, and integrity.
As a citizen and taxpayer you have a voice and can express your concern on this issue directly to the Florida Department of Education.
ACTION ITEMS:
Google the words "Social Justice" and read the articles and debates occurring regarding this hot topic.
Here is the link to the web page where you can find links to comment regarding the Revisions to the educational materials.

Contact the Governor & Commission of Education and and let them know you are opposed to teaching "Social Justice" just because it is the "politically correct" thing to do. Teach reading, writing, math, history, science, the arts and teach each child to be a good citizen in the classroom and the community. That's it - that's all. The creation of a "multicultural environment" concerns me as well. It is costly and ensures divisions within our society. United we stand; divided we fall.
I owned, for many years, in rural NY State a one room school with my neighbors names carved in the walls, left over from their school days there. It was an environment and a demand for learning or else. The "or else" was a great motivator and produced some very intelligent, worldly and grounded people.
Then in the fifties came school centralization, the next dastardly invention was the school bus, aka a social septic tank, I was employed as a substitute septic tank driver for a number of years, in the 90's, an eye opening experience. Add in the Department of Education and unions, 0+0+0+0 = what we have now!
Debbie is absolutely right, along with the true basics, children should be taught to be good citizens in the classroom and community. A great way to teach is by example, how do you get that horse back in the barn and unflush that toilet with the dwindling number of good examples, starting with many parents.
Political correctness would be handled swiftly and adroitly by Miss Mildred D at the front of the class room, to the left of the coal stove and to the right of the blackboard at the Eight Notes School House.
We have a great example in Debbie G!!!
Thanks for your hard work!
Based upon these guidelines it is no wonder our educational system is in such a sorry state.
What is "cultural competence"?
How is "diversity" employed as a learning tool? What will the student learn?
How do you encourage each student to maximize their achievement while reducing the gap in achievement? In a race if the gap is eliminated everyone crosses the finish line at the same time. However, if each racer achieves their potential the gap between the fastest and slowest will necessarily increase. It is impossible to maximize individual achievement for the benefit of both society and the individual while eliminating the achievement gap between individuals.
What is the source of this twisted logic?
Teaching social justice should begin with the lesson that students who achieve an "A" grade should share the grade with a student who failed. They should both receive a "C" to be socially just.
The second lesson should be that members of each family should share their resources.
The members of the family who have developed and utilize their talents should share their money with those who have not developed and do not utilize their talents and have no money.
Once "Social Justice" has been perfected in each family it could be expanded into the sports and entertainment businesses. Successful entertainers should share their wealth with those who have not been successful in the entertainment business. That would be "Sociall Justice".
I wrote a letter ( e-mail ) to Gov Scott explaining my deep disappoinment in this crap. It's teaching
Socialism staight out. Is the whole world going crazy ? Seems the NEA and Liberals have won the Communist war of ideas..Nothing about individual effort and reward, all about how it's bad luck and someone elses fault if they fail...All the Trillions in bailouit is about keeping people from failing..Failure is a requirement for a lesson in poor judgment....I'm totally disgusted .

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
