Finally, someone has paid attention to the voices of the people and someone has found the courage to do the hard stuff at the national level.  That someone is Paul Ryan and his team in the House.  Paul Ryan is a Republican who represents Wisconsin’s first congressional district and also serves as Chairman of the House Budget Committee. 

Mr. Ryan and his team will unveil proposed budget cuts of $6.2 TRILLION in spending from Obama’s budget over the next 10 years.  These meaningful cuts and thoughtful plans will put our nation back on a course of recovery and renewal. 

As someone who has worked with CEOs for more than 20 years, I know leadership when I see it and this, ladies and gentlemen is … TRUE GRIT LEADERSHIP.  Our country and its people are hungering after leaders who will guide us through this financial destruction called “the economy.”  This plan appears to have been written by leaders with courage and conviction who have analyzed the situation, created a strategy to fix it and given us the tactics to make it happen.  They are not just whining about it, they are doing something about it!

In my experience in working with leaders, these attributes show up time and again in those who are successful in their endeavors:

• A true leader is not afraid to do the hard stuff.
• A true leader is not afraid to face the facts head on. 
• A true leader listens and respects others with wisdom and experience.
• A true leader works harder and puts in longer hours than his people.
• A true leader has no fear in telling the truth. 
• A true leader looks for diverse ways to solve problems.
• A true leader is a winner not a whiner. 
• A true leader lives by these words “Lead, follow or get out of the way.” 
• A true leader puts the brightest people around him and listens to their advice.
• A true leader will die to self for the good of the mission.

The American people have been waiting for leaders to show up and that time is now.  We give Paul Ryan and his supporters of this plan a BIG HIGH FIVE. 

Their impressive plan will no doubt be shredded by their opponents.  The left has their plan to label anything that comes from the GOP as “extreme” and “dangerous.”  This plan will be called both.

Our answer to these assertions will be:  “What’s your plan?”  We know their answer will be the same as it has been for the past few years.  Their answers have fixed nothing of significance.  So what will be our words for their Astroturf answers?   “They lack real leadership and instead appear “slothful” and “foolish” by failing to address the real issues in our country.”

After reading the plan, please take a moment and contact your Representatives and let them know how pleased you are with the suggestions.  Encourage them to be a True Grit Leader and stand with the GOP’s plan.  You can reach your Representative at:  www.congress.gov.  While you are at it, make a call to Paul Ryan to encourage him and pat him on the back for a job well done. 

True Leaders need encouragement from their people too.  That’s our job so let’s do it!
