The Blob Blog: National Defense in Jeopardy

Last week I sat through 4 hours of missile defense presentations at Heritage in DC.  Those on the panel were the leading experts on this grave matter.  Grave because we will soon be digging ours.

Not only was I able to sit and listen but I was also asked to be a part of it.  Now what could a 50+ year old woman, wife, mother, grandmother, business owner and a tea party organizer know about missile defense?  Not much but probably more than the average bear.

As a member of the Tea Party Movement, we have researched for nearly two years now and the research will boggle your brain.  It will also tick you off!

The research we uncovered during the bailouts was focused on our financial standing.  Realizing that our financial standing was unsafe led us to other areas of concern.  We quickly realized that the issues were deeper than that.  The real issue was leadership or the lack thereof.

Let me give it to you straight – Ladies and Gentlemen:  Our leaders – aka our government --  do not have the ability to protect us should our enemies send a missile our way and they really don’t see the problem.

We are hanging by a thread with our defense systems and one big job of our government is to “provide for the common defense.”  Not pay for cell phones, upside down mortgages, or food for those unwilling to work for these things themselves.   Not pay for abortions through our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood.  Not pay for bait fish to have their own river while farmers can’t water their fields to grow our food.  Not pay foreign enemies for their oil when we can’t drill for our own here.

There are so many “Not” things that our government pays for through OUR dollars yet our defense system is ignored and allowed to rust while our enemies build bigger, better and longer range missiles than the United States of America.

I cannot possibly tell you everything about this hideous lack of leadership but you can listen to the panel of experts yourself at http://www.heritage.org/Events/2011/02/Rethinking-Missile-Defense.  It is a long program so put it on in the backgound while you work.

As I was writing about this panel, the local newspaper was next to my computer.  A small – very small box – caught my eye.  The small headline:  State Department uses Twitter to reach Iran.  I stopped writing and read the tiny article and my heart stopped beating for a second.  Our leaders are twittering Iran and encouraging the citizens to riot in the streets as the Egyptians did last week.  While to some that may sound good and very democratic – I saw it as scary.  Why?  Because during the panel last week, we heard that Iran has long range missiles that we should be concerned about.  So here we go.  Our leaders are twittering the citizens of Iran and encouraging them to riot against their government and their government hates us and has big, fat missiles that can kill us.  And, our missiles are not as big as theirs!

So we have a government that believes twittering is better than building missiles.  We have a government that believes it is good to encourage riots in Iran but makes fun of and discourages Tea Party members from marching on DC with their concerns.

We have a government who let the people of Iran die in the streets last year and said nothing about it but now feels it is appropriate to encourage them to go back in the streets today.  Why now?

Something is going on and no one is listening to the panel of experts.

No one listening … reminds me of the movie, The Blob (view the trailer here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhyRpvgm03g ) .  The Blob is an American science-fiction film made in 1958 that depicts a giant amoeba-like alien that terrorizes a small town.  Steve McQueen and his girlfriend try to warn adults about this invasion and no one will listen to them.  The Blob keeps growing by killing people one at a time.  It eats up the flesh of those it kills and it grows and grows and grows…until finally the adults have to face reality.  The Blob really does exist because they can see it now.  When they couldn’t see it – it didn’t exist yet people died anyway.

In my part of the panel presentation (you can find it at 1:34:53 on the counter) I let the adults in charge know that they will be responsible for anyone who dies because they failed to protect us because they just didn’t “see it.”

There is a Blob out there and it wants to destroy us.   Florida is especially vulnerable – as I was told by a few on this panel in a side bar conversation.

What can you do about this?  You can do what Steve McQueen and his friends did.  Keep saying it until you are heard.  Keep writing or calling your Representatives and let them know that you fear for your life under their leadership and you want them to do all they can to ensure we are protected from the Blob that wants to devour us.

Stand up regarding the matter of national defense in our country.  Many people do not think it is important or the subject matters not play well with fiscal discussions.  Some will say it is not up to the Tea Party Movement to talk about such matters.

Call them fools and ensure them – they will become a part of the Blob if they fail to see the danger in not addressing our defense concerns.

It’s time to speak up and speak out.  It is one thing to bankrupt our country and it’s another thing to allow its destruction by enemy fire.

More on what you suggested and would not work just because it hasn't.   Hmmmm   what was the difference between the 93 WTC bombings and 911????

The buildings fell in 2001.... thats it.  Yet we treated it like a failed attack?????? because the death toll was minimal and the building were left standing.    Well 3000 died the 2nd attempt.    How many millions will die and how much will it be worth ECONOMICALLY then????????

Exactly, John at lot of threats... your solution...cut spending????

I agree spending is wastefull, however we need to address the threat and be more efficient.... not pretend there is not threat or worse say there are too many threats so whats the point.

I thank you for your passion.   Reagan was able to build our military and reduce our debt and bring down the wall and defeat the communist Russia.  We are American and if we get back to our CAN DO attitude then a defeatist attititude we can do what needs to be done.

God Bless you! and God Bless America!!!!

John:  You are quite mis-informed.   I does not have to be accurate and a missle only need be detonated over the atmosphere.   A Missle can be launch by ship off the coast and not need be accurate, just that it detonate 12-20 miles over CONUS.

Iran may very likely have the capability as it was said in 2003 it would take 5 years for them to make one at their then current stage.   Well it only took the U.S. 3 years to develope one when it was no moe than a gleam in some scientist minds.   Iran has the help of nuclear nations or could just purchase on from N. Korea.

Please dont be so Naive.  The fact is if JUST ONE or TWO could wipe out over 60% of the population in a year... is it  reasonably worth the gamble?????

I think few would agree with that naive reasoning.... akin to playing Russioan Roulette... what is the difference?

John:  I so appreciate your expertise against those of the panelists from Heritage.  They are only generals, admirals and national defense experts.

No one said anything about spending more money.  WE said to stop spending it where it wasn't suppose to be spent.

Billie,

I just returned from speaking in D.C. and participated and spoke in the Anti-Jihad Summit with Frank Gaffney Jr.,

Dr. Peter Pry, President of EMPact America, Dir. U.S. Nuclear Strategy Forum, has served on the staffs of the EMP Commission, the Strategic Posture Commission, the House Armed Services

Committee, and the CIA and many others.

Dr. Pry spoke on a EMP attack or Electro-Magnetic Pulse Attack / or a high altitude NUKE detonated in our atmosphere where only 1 -3 nukes would knock out our electric grid and all electronics.  The U.S. is not geared to repair this infrastructure and it would result in the indirect death within 1 year of between 60-90% of the US population from disease, starvation, and other effects.

God Bless

The real Kicker is we can substantially protect the US population from likely and imminent destruction for a little as $100-$200  Million and completely from such a pulse attack for 4-5 billion.

James Donald Broome says it completely,   I don't need to add anything to his words.  i agree wholeheartedly with him.  Our country is in deep trouble.  And many still have their heads in the sand. Obama is the puppet taking his instructions from the likes of Soros.

Billie,

After hearing Gen. James Clapper, Director of our National Intelligence, testify that the Muslim Brotherhood(as relates to Egypt and the rest of the world)is a secular, peaceful organization, and after hearing and watching him admit he knew nothing about "what was going on in London", I fear for our nation, and our "way of life".  Hillary Clinton stated, a day before the unrest in Egypt, that "the government in Egypt is Stable", I am more and more convinced that Barack Obama is the "anti-colonialist" he has been protrayed as being. He is playing the role of "Democrat", but he isn't one; He protrays the role of African-American, but he does it for political reasons;  His ultimate goal is to bring this nation to its knees, and to bring us into a one world government.  He hates America, but he must operate from this venue in order to succeed;  His greatest, and most influential allies are George Soros, American and African blacks and "the unions".  He wants all the spoils from capitalism to be returned to "the people".  Meanwhile, at the CPAC, there is an underlying current to minimize the role, influence and effect of our Tea Party Movement,i.e., Haley barbour, Donald Trump and Mike Huckabee, to name just a few.  We must be ever vigilant.  Thanks for what you do.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
