Obviously no legislation is ever approved as originally envisioned. Some agency will be necessary to enforce payment and pass payments through to treasury. The IRS is not going away. Income tax is more about tweaking public policy encouraging desired activity and discouraging undesired behavior (for example, home mortgage deductions, child care and marriage adjustments). Congress will never voluntarily give up the power to do that. They might however, given enough public support, be willing to add a federal sales tax to the current set of taxation tools.

Plus you espouse a system that is installed just as you envision. Hat will never happen.

How does it help small business. It encourages people to buycnothing or used items. How does the new car dealer benecit from that proposal. I think thdy would consider themselves small businessman. We will look like Cuuba with 30 year old cars on the road. To keep the revenues equal the tax would be closer to thirty percent. And that assumes that people consume at the rate which is not likely. It deincentivizes new purchases. Economy grinds to halt. Show me where it works.

I forgot to add another benefit...those who get paychecks, get to keep all of that check, no Fed deductions.

The FairTax isn't 'burdensome' on anyone!  In the first place, we already are paying 22% on everything we purchase via the hidden taxes that go away with the entrance of FairTax.  Ex: For your current $1000 worth of purchases...22% of that is taxes = $780 worth of value for that $1000 you spent.  Add to that the 23% FairTax imposed=$780 x 23%=179.40 totals $959.40, a savings of $1000 minus 959.40= $40.60 savings, after the FairTax is imposed...PLUS all used items are tax exempt under the plan...PLUS, All heads/household receive $220+/mo prebate; PLUS the spouse of that household receives an additional same amount; PLUS an additional $75+/mo per dependent child. How in the world could that be unfair to anyone?  PLUS we get rid of the burdensome, oppressive IRS!  The FairTax is favorable to small business, allowing them to start up, expand, or return to the US...expanding the economy, and creating jobs!  Please attend the monthly meetings, educate yourself...it's your money!  (and your freedom).

Fair tax puts the burden on the young and up and coming. They drive the economy by purchasing. You will penalize them. Those who already have "things" get to opt out. It isn't fair, it just shifts burden to younger people.

We enjoyed a meaningful FairTax meeting yesterday.  Happily to report that 2 more have joined the list of Senators/Congressmen who support FairTax, bringing the total now to 79.  Obviously, we need more than that...that is where you come in!  Write to your Reps telling them it isn't about Tea it is (& always has been) about taxes & taxation!  Very Important: Get your local businesses involved, as well...it actually helps them even more than it does you!  (That is saying a lot!)

Seniors...under FairTax, you keep getting your Soc Sec checks every month for your lifetime. PLUS...no deductions for income tax (Clinton's tax is automatically repealed)...this also applies to those about to qualify for Soc Sec payments (5 years out).  You are important voters...here's your chance to really help yourselves!  (Oh yes, you still may qualify for the Prebates!)  Part of supporting life means creating a stress-free post-retirement time.  It's your money!

Leanne, good luck to you in the future. I hope your tenure was rewarding for you personally.
I think it would be good to allow the membership decide upon the next leader. It seems that a group that fosters the notion that we are capable of deciding what is best for us as a people, that as a group we needn't rely upon a small group of members to decide upon our future leaders. If we are not to be trusted to pick our own leader, then what is the purpose. Turn it into a fundraising effort. After a campaign, allow members to vote after making a contribution. Post results in real time on this site. Your candidate falls behind, time to come off the hip. It could be exciting.

Rubio shot himself in the foot with that craziness about Amnesty.  He shot himself in the other foot when he started waffling on his support for FairTax.  Did he fall on his head?  Did someone spike his drink?  What's the deal?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
