I want the tea party to stop pretending we are victims. It totally diminishes the arguments put forth when they are acompanied by the refrains that others are trying stifle the Tea Party. Only the government is prohibited from doing so. Private outlets can do as they choose. It is the free market. Senator Kerry is an idiot. But I won't let him to draw me into a name calling event. We have entered an era when all politicians and their followers are like soccer players. You brush them and they fall as though struck by a charging elephant, writhing in pain like a two year old. Let's talk about real issues and stop the hoohah, no one cares what John Kerry says.

As to the funerals. These are for families of the dead, not hte VFW or American Legion or Westboro Baptist Church or anybody else. The family's wishes and preferences are tantamount, and ensuring that the services are conducted in a manner that they choose is all that matters. And if the VFW or AmLeg doesn't take the time in advance to speak to the family about how they wish to show tribute to the fallen, then they should find a way to show tribute that is less intrusive.

....finally as to the references that I hold Democratic postions, liberal postions, progressive postions, to that I say....nay. I beleive FDR and LBJ pushed for and passed legislation that led to Social Security and Medicare respectively. Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Durbin, Sanders are among those who fighting to keep it going despite our lack of funding, moreso for Medicare. So do not read what Ron Paul says about this issue to determine my political stripes. But if you suppport these programs, which is fine if you do, just tell me how we fund them so that I may get a payback on my investment? JR, JL either may answer or both. Or is okay taht I pay and never get anything for it, just the cost of being an American. Otherwise known as redistribution.

OMG, JL, are you 12?  Seriously?  Wow.  You must be 12.  This sort of 'love fest' for Muslims is truly so short-sighted and free of discernment it's laughable.  Wow.....it's like having an argument with a 6 year old about what is 'fair'....my God....

JR, i almost responded and then it hit me déjà vu. It's happened before. Nancy Pelosi is known in political circles as Princess Pelosi. As far as me calling Progressive STUPID, they are, they are parasites who live off of other people's earnings and believe once you reach a certain amount, you should share it with others. I find that thinking very stupid. My opinion. As the Houston story, the groups were told NOT to mention Christian prayer or the word Jesus because it offends others who attend the internments period because of one complaint. How can you ask without questioning and using those words? Our country should be tolerant and respectful of other beliefs, religions, opinions periods as long as you are NOT breaking the law.

I have some friends who American Muslims who can in thru the front door and have worked very hard to earn their citizenship, they have accepted the laws of our land and they have accepted our country as their own, are very grateful for it. They probably know more of our history than many younger average Americans. What they see happening in our country is what many saw happen in Azerbaijan when the Soviets took over. Many of the older ones see the signs in our government now, the same things going on... before the takeover. One young man just in his early 30's has seen horrors of soldiers doing unspeakable things to babies and the very young or old in another country that was also taken over. What he witness, will haunt him forever and the fact he could do nothing. Many American Immigrants could teach American people here what liberty and freedom truly means after living under such horrors and suppression.

Amanda, re-read and respond to what was actually written, not what you read into it. JL called no-one names and neither did I. Leave it to you to defend the hate-speech liberal media. Odd that you are in the Tea Party and don't mind the Tea Party being smeared and defamed. Further, you have no idea what we want.  It was Democrat U.S. Senator John Kerry who called for suppressing free speech of the Tea Party, not the other way around. There's a huge difference between free speech and engaging in unlawful speech. Harassment, bullying, defamation, slander, and libel are in the criminal code. If they're done online, they're computer crimes---on both the federal and state level. 

Your deliberately false remarks suggest you're again spoiling for your usual on-going tit for tat argument on this website. There is nothing commendable about going out of your way to childishly bait members in order to provoke an argument you can enjoy.

Many Americans can NOT even practice their religious faith freely anymore. The Incident in Houston Texas Veteran's Cemetery recently was a perfect example where Christians were told they could not pray openly or use the name of Jesus.   JL Gawlik

Here is a classic example of what I am referencing. This story refers to  the internment of soldiers as a US military cemetary. The rule there stipulates that the family can agree to have their faith represented in any manner they choose at their loved ones burial. Outside groups, such as the American Legion and VFW often offer their services during graveside services. The cemetary's requirement is that they get permission from the family to perform these services, as some are of a religous nature. That seems about right to me. No one is restricting  the family's preferred means of burying their loved one. They only ask these other orgs to seek the family's approval beforehand.

But really, by all means, describe this as an invasion into a private person's free expresion of faith, when the exact opposite is true. But it does make a better story.

The first time anyone's free expression of religion is limited, I will be the first one there. I promise.

Except of course Muslims.

JL, there you go again, calling names, right off the bat. Good for you if it makes you feel better. But you do not refute. The lame stream media can say whatever they like, or conversely, not talk about anything they want. That is why it is called a free press. The libs constantly whine about Rush, Glenn and Hannity, who cares? Let them whine. The media is only a function of the market. They deliver what their patrons desire.

You want the media to present one side of the story, the side you agree with and call the other side thugs and progressives in an effort to discredit. There is no difference. There is no governmental action that is pending that in anyway restricts speech.

But please play the victim, it looks so good on you.

Welcome back J.R.! That is so true, Kerry statement was totally against ALL Americans having free speech. That man lives in a 'Out of Touch with Reality' BuBBLe, if i remember right he use to compare himself to JFK... that is a laugh, he is far, so far from measuring up to him, almost like Princess Pelosi comparing herself to MLK Jr.! There is no comparison, she is the complete opposite of what he stood for and his principles and values. He stood for the people, not the government.

John Kerry may of been still smarting from Senator Marco Rubio's smack-down debate on the Senate Floor during the debt ceiling debate. When are these STUPID progressives going to realize that they can not debate openly because they want to take our liberties and freedoms away with big government creating slavery and servitude of the masses and you can NOT debate that, who in their right mind would give away their liberty and freedom?

Earlier this year Charlie Rangel, Barney Frank, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, quiet a few progressives all stated that certain conservatives and TeaParty people should NOT be allowed to speak freely. The real truth of the matter is that the Progressives are afraid, the CutCap&Balance bill they could NOT even bring to the Senate Floor for a open debate, Harry Reid was afraid because that bill will NOT allow for the massive government expansion that is part of their agenda.

Amanda, you should see John Stossel's special on Freeloaders. It was an eye opener and there were experts on the show that stated the worst thing you can do to a pan handler is to enable them by giving them money. They need to learn to become functional in society. It has been proven over and over people who are given things freely, learn not to be productive in life and become reliant on hand outs. The most glaring example was with the American Indians, the Trillions of dollars given to them but the Federal government owns the land and actually have enslaved them making them very unproductive and dependent, many have become alcoholics and drug users. It was very sad to see being part Native American. Then there is a tribe that has not been recognized by the federal government and they are doing a lot better than the average Americans, living in gated communities owning and running their own businesses but yet there is a federal social worker and group of attorneys who are trying to get them recognized so they can get them handouts from the federal government. That is the problem with the federal government, you have many of these progressive loons who want to find more people to give hand outs to. People are happier being productive and successful not dependent on others. That has been proven over and over, even people with disabilities prefer to do it on their own. Giving should come from the community, closer to those who are in need and you do not have the massive corruption, waste and fraud that occurs in the Federal government that is literally in the hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

We have one hell of a mess in our Federal government, in Congress and in the White House. We need to be good parents and clean it up. It will not happen over night, not in one election cycle but several. 

Great Blog, Billie... It has been really fun watching the Progressives get rabid when they see the TeaParty growing in numbers.

Billie, i am going to bet on the parents because I believe in WE THE PEOPLE!
