THE TIMES UNION DOES IT AGAIN: SUPPORTS THE OPPOSITE OF WE THE PEOPLE

In today’s Sunday edition of the Times Union, they printed their endorsements for the local races.  http://jacksonville.com/opinion/editorials/2011-03-20/story/our-end...

We were not surprised to see they endorsed Audrey Moran for Mayor.  Audrey chose NOT to participate in the tea party vetting process.  She did not return our questionnaires; she did not meet with our leadership council for a one on one video interview; she did not attend the Mayoral Town Hall; nor did she post any of her information on our website.

In other words, Audrey Moran (R) shunned the people of the tea party movement and said our voices did not matter.  Will she do this if she is elected our Mayor?  Tigers don’t change their stripes…do they?

We give credit to Mike Hogan (R), Rick Mullaney (R), Warren Lee (D) and Steve Irvine (I) – all who participated in the FCTP process.  Alvin Brown (D) also chose not to engage with the Tea Party – a missed opportunity for him.

This is not the first time the Tea Party Movement has been on opposite sides where our endorsements are concerned.  They wrote as many great articles about Alex Sink as they could find all the while slamming Rick Scott.  In the primary, Bill McCollum was given favorable articles while the normal “let’s get Rick” articles were published.  Guess who won:  Rick Scott, the Tea Party favorite.

The newspaper industry is hurting and they are struggling to find a way to reach out to readers.  They believe social media might help their cause and they are putting forth the efforts to build their news on that platform.  The real issue is this:  They are out of touch with the views of most of the people.  Most of us – especially in Jacksonville – are not far left liberals.  Yet if a visitor picked up our paper and read the headlines, they would think we were.  The TU has many fine reporters and some of them are fair and report the news based on facts and not their own personal opinions.  We salute them for that and ask them to continue to be true to the principles of great journalism.

It’s time for the TU to re-evaluate its mission and to reconnect with the people of North Florida.  If they did that, they would find their readership would improve, their revenues would sky rocket and they could retain their staff -- thereby saving jobs which NE Florida desperately needs.

Tuesday is Election Day.  Whoever your candidate might be – we encourage you to VOTE.  This is one piece of freedom that hasn’t been taken from you yet.  If you have time, call your friends and gather together on the side of the road holding signs for your candidates.  Wave and send a thumb up even if someone sends you a middle finger.  Smile and wave – kill them with kindness – it really irritates them when you do that!  Take a flip camera with you and make sure your signs are respectful.

After you vote, post a picture on Facebook and on our website showing your I VOTED sticker proudly.

Election Night:  Contact your favorite candidate and find out where they will be watching the returns.  Join them and be ready to pat them on the pat for a job well done if they don’t win or a high five if they do.

The First Coast Tea Party has published our endorsements on our community site at:  www.fctpcommunity.org.  We hope you will check them out, watch the video interviews, read the questionnaires and make your decisions after you do.  You still have time between now and Tuesday to become well informed on all the candidates who chose to participate in our process.

Voting is VERY important.  If you don’t believe us, believe Terry Tate.  See his message here:

That's not what Christy said Christy

"Everyone can go to the internet and get the news.  U can watch Fox and CNN and then decide, check the facts they throw at u.  We crippled our local newspaper and they hve. changed their tune and now jus report the facts."
I don't see "should" mentioned here.  I agree it would be refreshing if that were to occur but it has not to date happened.  Stop your subscription to the Times Union today.

What Christy said is that the TU or any paper should, should jus report the facts not their left view

So we have to wait for the reinstatement of the death and estate tax to expire as was threatened

by Democrats this past Dec.  Then when the taxes are due and the privately held business must be sold you have a go at it.  This was a business model of buying buisnesses for Warren Buffett early on.

Can't pay estate taxes on family owned business which then must be sold because no one individual

has the funds or liquidity to pay up.  And you wondered why he endorsed Obama?

You will be able to buy the TU out of bankruptcy for nothing soon enough so you will not have to be responsible for the union contracts.  They will be null and void.  Depending on how the pension assets are held and where you might be able to capture those assets as well and stiff the employees.  This would be a Democratic tactic used in take overs and take under plans but would be somewhat poetic justice.

I like Lyndee's suggestion that we become stockholders with the T-U. In fact, I had mentioned to Billie awhile back that I wish we could somehow (the FCTP) buy the T-U out from under them. That would be awesome! Thanks for the info about Frank Denton. Did not know that. When I spoke to him on the phone that day, I did say to him that I think it would be interesting for us to deal an investigation on him and his reporters and see what conflicts of interest we could turn up. I still think that needs to be done.

Don't know what Times Union (TU ) Christy is reading but to suggest they "just report the facts" is a joke.

From headlines to story placement to content the spin is always left and liberal bias.  To suggest

that one needs to go to some other source like the internet to "get the facts" is ridiculous.  Why get the newspaper then?   To wrap fish?   Yahoo and others engage in a similar pattern of spin but only do it less blantantly. The TU is nothing more than a 365 day a year Liberal and Democratic vote generating political campaign mailer.  That is also why talk radio has such a strong base of support in NE Florida.   AM 600 and 690.  And even they spin there news updates to the left.   Townhall, Newsmax, Minuteman, Heritage, PAC, Tea Party's, Conservative Action, the Cardinal Neuman Society and our FCTP blog are originators of timely, informed and accurrate information.  These are the groups and organizations which should have your support.

A while back I canceled my TU Subscription because of this very reason, that I think paper is to "left leaning".  I get calls periodically from them asking if I would like to subscribe, and I always say, "no your paper is to liberal for me".

Audrey Moran is a progressive. She joined the Republican Party in 2006 to use the Party

to get elected. She also has promised the world to the gay community in Jax. That has given

her about 8000 supporters who have been making calls for her. We do not need another

tax and spend progressive in government!

Plan B to take under the TU is to write and boycott its advertisers.   I like Stein Mart, Dillards is okay,

and some entertainment and restaurant venues, but write to them and tell them that you refuse to

shop and patronage there places of business until they stop advertising in the TU.  You must rally

to make change, but you can do so without the union thuggery tactics and violent destruction practices like we saw in Wisconsin and other states.  When the lay offs start coming they will notice.

And remember to cancel (cxl) your TU subscription.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
