In today’s Sunday edition of the Times Union, they printed their endorsements for the local races. http://jacksonville.com/opinion/editorials/2011-03-20/story/our-end...
We were not surprised to see they endorsed Audrey Moran for Mayor. Audrey chose NOT to participate in the tea party vetting process. She did not return our questionnaires; she did not meet with our leadership council for a one on one video interview; she did not attend the Mayoral Town Hall; nor did she post any of her information on our website.
In other words, Audrey Moran (R) shunned the people of the tea party movement and said our voices did not matter. Will she do this if she is elected our Mayor? Tigers don’t change their stripes…do they?
We give credit to Mike Hogan (R), Rick Mullaney (R), Warren Lee (D) and Steve Irvine (I) – all who participated in the FCTP process. Alvin Brown (D) also chose not to engage with the Tea Party – a missed opportunity for him.
This is not the first time the Tea Party Movement has been on opposite sides where our endorsements are concerned. They wrote as many great articles about Alex Sink as they could find all the while slamming Rick Scott. In the primary, Bill McCollum was given favorable articles while the normal “let’s get Rick” articles were published. Guess who won: Rick Scott, the Tea Party favorite.
The newspaper industry is hurting and they are struggling to find a way to reach out to readers. They believe social media might help their cause and they are putting forth the efforts to build their news on that platform. The real issue is this: They are out of touch with the views of most of the people. Most of us – especially in Jacksonville – are not far left liberals. Yet if a visitor picked up our paper and read the headlines, they would think we were. The TU has many fine reporters and some of them are fair and report the news based on facts and not their own personal opinions. We salute them for that and ask them to continue to be true to the principles of great journalism.
It’s time for the TU to re-evaluate its mission and to reconnect with the people of North Florida. If they did that, they would find their readership would improve, their revenues would sky rocket and they could retain their staff -- thereby saving jobs which NE Florida desperately needs.
Tuesday is Election Day. Whoever your candidate might be – we encourage you to VOTE. This is one piece of freedom that hasn’t been taken from you yet. If you have time, call your friends and gather together on the side of the road holding signs for your candidates. Wave and send a thumb up even if someone sends you a middle finger. Smile and wave – kill them with kindness – it really irritates them when you do that! Take a flip camera with you and make sure your signs are respectful.
After you vote, post a picture on Facebook and on our website showing your I VOTED sticker proudly.
Election Night: Contact your favorite candidate and find out where they will be watching the returns. Join them and be ready to pat them on the pat for a job well done if they don’t win or a high five if they do.
The First Coast Tea Party has published our endorsements on our community site at: www.fctpcommunity.org. We hope you will check them out, watch the video interviews, read the questionnaires and make your decisions after you do. You still have time between now and Tuesday to become well informed on all the candidates who chose to participate in our process.
Voting is VERY important. If you don’t believe us, believe Terry Tate. See his message here:

About six months ago the Times-Union blocked my posting privileges at Jacksonville.com because I called one of their reporters a communist. I had a personal email from Abel Harding basically asking me to take back what I said and to "play nice". I asked him whether or not the T-U stood for freedom of speech or not. He just kept telling me I had freedom of speech, as long as I was "civil". Funny how the left is all about "civility" if it's something coming from the right, but not for their own people.
I later had a phone conversation with Frank Denton, the T-U Editor, and told him I did not appreciate their attack pieces on people like Randy McDaniels and Billie Tucker while doing glowing articles on people like Parvez Ahmed. I told him that it was obvious that the T-U was nothing more than a "hit man" for the Left, that if you dare disagree or come against the Leftist Doctrine, the T-U will be sure to try to take you down. I also told him I had noticed a distinct leftward turn in the T-U in the last five years. He said, yes, that is because that is when he took over the helm of the newspaper. So he admitted he is the one who steered the T-U down the current road.
What was really funny, though, is that he told me the T-U does NOT endorse candidates. I think somebody needs to call him Monday morning and ask him about that.
Billie, did you also notice the FTU is changing it's format? They are getting narrower paper and different fonts starting this week. Gee, could that be because they have to save money? I no longer subscribe to the FTU for a reason. THEY HAVE BECOME A LIBERAL MOUTH PIECE. Their endorsement of Audrey Moran proves that. She is a total RINO.
During the presidential election, I contacted the supposed customer advocate regarding several instances of them pushing Obama over all other candidates. Wayne, whatever his name was, told me he got just as many complaints echoing the opposite view. Now, I had cited examples of day after day coverage, including page numbers. And this jerk tells me that? I said to him, the only way you can give Obama more coverage, is to give him the ENTIRE FRONT PAGE instead of 1/3 of it. That did it for me, I was done with the FTU. I hope they go out of business.
While I don't agree with everything the Times Union says. They did give an honest endorsement of Juan Diaz for Jacksonville City Council. Juan got the highest Tea Party rating at the speed dating event. Read his questioneer to see he is the most conservative candidate in his race. He is the only cnadidate in his race who has commited to not raising taxes. The quote about him in the TU this morning is spot on: "Juan Diaz gave the most impressive endorsement interview since Marco Rubio. Quick of mind, willing to look for new solutions to old problems, Diaz would be one of the brightest newcomers on council in many election cycles."
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
