What happened to that morning coffee moment where your thoughts were filled with what to make for Sunday dinner, was your fishing license expired, or what to do for your spouses upcoming birthday? Though your world was not perfect it was your world and that was o.k.
Or at least it was until early in 2008; sitting in my kayak on Trout Creek hoping to catch a nice bass or at least a decent crappie, wondering if I had the right color bait on my line to even catch anything. Listening to the radio watching the water ripple as the bait hit the surface; my world was unraveling and I didn’t even know it. The morning routine of coffee and watching Katie Couric came crashing down when suddenly, like Alice in Wonderland, nothing was as it seemed and everything was wrong. How did I sense the wrongness? Was it that guy called Neal Boortz, or perhaps the one my husband listened to, Rush Limbaugh? Either way, I knew something was wrong.
Like many of you, my journey that began with a feeling and has brought me to a place where life can never return to those coffee moments or, for me, at least not to the state of ignorant bliss I once lived in. I found my way to the First Coast Tea Party, learned about city councils, mayors, senators, congressmen, and legislation. Along the way I lost a father, lost a grandson, made some beautiful friendships, parted ways with some who were called friends, and found a country on fire from within.
What was my part in all of this and what could I do as one person to have any impact? Just as surreal as it was to “wake-up” to this new reality was the journey I have been on since that cool February morning. From a rally in Washington, D.C. with over one million new friends in liberty to knocking on stranger's doors to talk to people about a candidate running for city council. From full time volunteer to part-time office work at the First Coast Tea Party to full time field coordinator for Americans For Prosperity. I am scared, worried, and don’t know what the future holds; but I do know that I am not in control, God is and with that I have faith!
I am writing to you on this day, at this moment in our nations history in hopes that we can work together to extinguish, or at least get under control, the flames that are burning this exceptional nation from within. The leadership at the First Coast Tea Party has been pulling the engine uphill and it has become quite heavy. We need that engine to go full speed Will you stand with me as volunteer firefighters to save these United States of America? Americans For Prosperity has both the resources and tools to "do" something right now and with the leadership and membership of the First Coast Tea Party together we can make a difference here at ground zero in Florida; Duval County.
Shall we work to put the fires out together now so that on the morning of November 7th we can sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee, or tea, with family and friends with the knowledge that we did ALL that we could.

Bless you Debbie for your "awakening" back in 2008 and your diligence since then in helping to wake up Americans who have obviously been asleep at the wheel. This decision today by the Supreme Court on the massive TAX forced on Americans should be the motivator the silent majority needs (or kick in the butt). May the wrath of overtaxed citizens who are sick and tired of a runaway Federal Government come together at the ballot box in NOV. We'll be watching for fraud because we know it is coming but pray that the RIGHT side will prevail and save this great republic. As bad as Obama Two would be Speaker Pelosi (aaaggghhh) or Leader Reid. Don't get me started on Bill Nelson.
Vote for the libertarian GARY JOHNSON ,WHO IS STILL RUNNING!
He is against Big government[elimination of IRS AND EPA].he is for the fiar tax and has a good record as Governer of his state
god give us the strength to change the things we can and the patients to endure those we can't
I am sending this blog out to our entire membership base as Debbie's message should touch us all.
With the decision of the SCOTUS today related to The Health Care Mandate Obama - we must not react but gain perspective on the decsion, understand what all components mean to the people and what impact this will have on the upcoming election. We must understand that this is a tax increase on the middle class, that if you do not purchase health insurance you will have a problem with the IRS. We must craft our message and send a message to Washington that we will not allow our freedoms to continue to be destroyed.
Let's take our time to be angry, to be disappointed, and then with a POSTITIVE FOCUS move this train ahead with great energy and force. I encourage you all to take your energy and put it to good use and become active in the Tea Party, be ACTIVE in the boots on the ground work. That is the only way to make a difference. But, let us not just react.
Debbie, so well said. God gave you a gift in the words you write and share. Like you I woke up one day and while my anger was being released with facebook friends, I realized that I was preaching to the choir. I just knew I had to do something and there was The First Coast Tea Party. What was a part-time volunteer assignment has turned into a full-time plus overtime volunteer job. My heart is in the cause and the love of my country is what keeps me going everyday. You are right in that some have been pulling the engine uphill and there are days when I feel that I can no longer continue to pull with so few helping to actually move the engine. The motivation comes from the story about the little train that just kept saying "I think I can, I think I can" and I remember those who carry so much more and have fought to the death for freedom. If we are to continue then we must join forces with other like minded organizations, we must find the ways to utilize all the resources at our fingertips and move through this battle together. This is about saving our country and leaving our children with the knowledge that we gave it our very best, not as one organization but together as Americans.
I could write my heart out today on this subject, I could pray for more hands to do the work, but for the moment I will get in my sticker covered Jeep and go to 2 more meetings where action items will be not only discussed but worked by the hands of some very dedicated FCTP volunteers who are giving up part of their evening to make a difference. May they all sit back on Novemeber 7th with their cup of coffee and know they did what they could.... Thanks Debbie
Nice job Debbie. Always the voice of reason and common sense!
There you go again!
Making sense out of confusion again!
You are an inspiration to many around you, including me.
So yes, you are making an impact, even more now, that you have aligned yourself with AFP. Now that you have access to resources, working in conjunction with FCTP.
I know I am looking forward to doing whatever we can.
Make no mistake you are a driving force in the efforts in N.E. Florida.

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
