Newt Gingrich, in the video below, says,

• "FDR was very progressive?".  and he further says, 'FDR is the greatest president of the century".
• ""This transition is as big as the New Deal, if not bigger"

The news is reporting that Newt is surging among Tea Party members, but I don't know if that is true. It is quite possible that it is to manipulate us all into voting for Romney.  The news has been pushing him for months, and his numbers have not risen.  So if they can convince us it is between Romney and Nute...I mean Nute makes Romney look good.;;;Romney is the lesser of two evils.

This was email to me by the:   theteaparty.com out of Washington DC asking for money to donate to Newt.

Newt Gingrich is surging. He's broken through in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida. Conservatives are rallying to his side because they know that Newt is about to revolutionize Washington once again. Starting Day One, Newt will dismantle ObamaCare and crush the regulatory bureaucracy Obama has put in place. He will get our economy moving again, and restore faith in the American Dream.

But, President Obama isn't just going to roll over and let Newt tear apart everything he's done. President Obama knows the threat Newt represents to his big-government agenda, and he and his media allies are going to do everything they can to stop him. In fact, President Obama has already sicked his top attack dog, David Axelrod, on Newt to try to stop his momentum before he gets the nomination.

With only 21 days until the Iowa caucuses, President Obama and the liberal media are starting to lay it on thick. But we conservatives know better. We're tired of accepting the candidate anointed by the Washington elite, of having to pick the "next-guy-in-line" simply because the media tells us to. We want to support a conservative who is going to shake Washington up! Someone who will cut federal spending, cut the deficit, and restore a little sanity to our government.

Newt Gingrich has a long record of cutting hundreds of billions in government spending - of getting rid of the waste. He reformed welfare and got millions of people off the government dole. Newt is ready to do it again, but he needs our help to get there.

Iowa is fast approaching and we need the resources to push Newt over the top. A Newt victory will send a signal to the media, to Washington, and to President Obama that we mean business. We're not going to let them pull the wool over our eyes as our country slips away. We're going to take our country back and elect a real conservative. Someone we know will stand up and say with conviction, "We're taking our country back!"

Newt Gingrich is that man. He's done it before and he'll do it again. Stand with Newt and let's take America back!  donate now.

Newt is a conservative, Newt is a liberal.

I don't know which story to believe. Someone is lying, just haven't figured out who.

I understand how you feel Bioyal.  You are questioning, and that is good because "those who seek shall find".

Here is an article by The Heritage Foundation explaining what it means to be a Progressive (Keep in mind what Newt says in the video above about FDR being a progressive, and being the greatest President of the 20th century):

"There are, of course, many different representations of Progressivism: the literature of Upton Sinclair, the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, the history of Charles Beard, the educational system of John Dewey. In politics and political thought, the movement is associated with political leaders such as Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt and thinkers such as Herbert Croly and Charles Merriam.

While the Progressives differed in their assessment of the problems and how to resolve them, they generally shared in common the view that government at every level must be actively involved in these reforms. The existing constitutional system was outdated and must be made into a dynamic, evolving instrument of social change (Living Document), aided by scientific knowledge and the development of administrative bureaucracy.

At the same time, the old system was to be opened up and made more democratic; hence, the direct elections of Senators, the open primary, the initiative and referendum. It also had to be made to provide for more revenue; hence, the Sixteenth Amendment and the progressive income tax." (The Founding Fathers were against a tax on Labor)

"Progressives to disparage the Founders' insistence on limited government. The Progressive goal of politics is freedom, now understood as freedom from the limits imposed by nature and necessity. They rejected the Founders' conception of freedom as useful for self-preservation for the sake of the individual pursuit of happiness. For the Progressives, freedom is redefined as the fulfillment of human capacities, which becomes the primary task of the state."

As you can see Progressives are are at odds with the Founding Fathers idea of limited government.  The Tea Party, comparing how successful things were for the first 120 years of this Nation (Before Progressives took over in 1913 under Woodrow Wilson),  to what we now have resulting from Progressive Policies are saying we disagree with the Progressive movement. We instead want:

• smaller government
• lower taxes
• less government interference in our lives.

In the following link are videos where Supreme Court  Justice Scalia (a Conservative) is  disagreeing  with Supreme Court  Justice Breyer (a Progressive) about the Constitution.  It shows you how how very different Conservatives are from Progressives. (Keep in mind though; many Progressives like Newt see themselves as Conservatives.)

So you can see, Progressives (found in both parties) have been dismantling what the Founding Fathers created. We adamantly  disagree with the Progressives, and believe that history proves the Founding Fathers correct, and the Progressives wrong .
