Cork, I really think you need to re-evaluate your opinion on what is good Foreign Policy and Ron Paul. Dr Paul has it right. Please check out the document and a video that are listed below:

We have been at War for the last 30 years or more with No Progress to show. Newt, Romney and Sanitarium offer No Change from that dismal course.

Even if we could afford it, which we can’t, why would you?

Just for shits and grins... if Romney is a Progressive and Gingrich isn't a Conservative, Santorum is without sufficient experience and lacks credibility, Paul is a fringe lunatic when it comes to Foreign policy. Who should we be encouraging to run at this last hour?

I can't support Gingrich either Ed.  He's a fraud.

I've been fed up with the Democrats since Lyndon Johnson and his idiocy.  Jimmy Ca-a-a-a-a-a-ata just reinforced that position and no one has come along yet to even make me want to "think" about changing my mind.  Now the Republicrats have pretty much done the same thing.

When I volunteered, and enlisted America was a much different country.  But the writing was on the wall.  Now the Republicans somehow think I should place the Republican Party ahead of America.  I didn't go to 'Nam for the Republican Party.  And if the party has its collective head up its collected orifice so far that they think I'll vote for anyone with an R after their name, then the Republican Party is sadly mistaken.

If there are enough who feel as I do, maybe we will finally break the back of this two party system, which is really only two branches of the same party.  I know there are a lot of people who will walk into the polls with good intentions to vote 3rd party, and when it comes time to pull the lever their bowels will turn to water, they will sacrifice their own principles and they will vote for someone who will just push the status quo further along down the same path.  But I hope I'm wrong on that.

It's time to quit being "sheeple" and sacrificing ourselves to the wolf, and stand up for America!  Not a political party.

03/23/2011 – He completely flip-flopped on Libyan intervention in 16 days.
03/25/2011 – He plans to sign as many as 200 executive orders on his first day as president.
03/27/2011 – He says that America is under attack by atheist Islamists.
04/25/2011 – He’s a paid lobbyist for Federal ethanol subsidies.
05/12/2011 – He was more supportive of individual health-care mandates than Mitt Romney.
05/15/2011 – He backed Obama’s individual mandate; “All of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care.”
05/16/2011 – He also endorsed individual mandates in 1993 when Clinton pushed Universal Health Care.
08/11/2011 – His recent criticism of the United Nations is United Nations by a long, long history of supporting it.

Many Republicans have been brainwashed as to what a Conservative really is. They are willing to accept someone like a Newt Gingrich. I believe we should all continue and try to change the Republican Party back to its true Conservative roots.  However If we can’t, then we have no choice. The Libertarian Party is where my vote and many others will be going. Ron Paul is the right direction to save the Republican Party, but more importantly to save the Republic:

Tarina says: (from another website)
Newt Gingrich is a political chameleon that has inexplicably managed to fool conservatives for 30 years. He is a globalist to the bone and supports every opportunity to erode American sovereignty and the constitution. He disguises his statist positions with an abundance of flip-flopping and pandering as needed. He has a long history of expanding the Federal Government and deficit spending. He is the very definition of an Establishment Insider.

- Card-Carrying member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a globalist think tank
- “Distinguished member” of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (neocon, pro-interventionism group)
- Member of Bohemian Grove
and World Future Society
- Voted for NAFTA, a blatant circumvention of Congress’ exclusive power to regulate commerce with foreign nations. Took power from American people and put it into the hands of unelected Binational panels, made mostly of foreigners.
- Supported GATT
& NTO
- Supported the National Endowment for the Arts;
- Voted for the creation of the Federal Dept. of Education in 1979 under Jimmy Carter.
- Big supporter of Foreign Aid — even to Soviets through the Export-Import Bank.
- In one year (1994-1995) Gingrich voted for nearly $45 billion in foreign aid.
- He helped push through Federally-funded loan guarantees to Communist China.
- Urged the House to repeal the War Powers Act and give the Presidency more power.
- Supports ongoing Iraq and Afghan War
- Supported Clinton’s welfare programs, education programs, labor programs, and environmental programs, as well as most of his foreign affairs programs.
- Supported spending $30B for the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 that shackled gun owners with new restrictions, federalized a number of crimes, and handed the feds police powers that the Constitution reserves to the states.
- Voted to give billions of dollars to United Nations “peacekeeping” operations;
- Bailed out savings and loan institutions in 1991. $40B Bank bailout
- He was a draft-dodger during the Vietnam War, yet pushed aggressive foreign interventionism his entire political career, and did say that Vietnam was the “right battlefield at the right time.”
- He cheated on one of his wives while she was suffering from cancer, delivered divorce papers to her in the hospital.
- Worked on the Rockefeller presidential campaign in 1968.

Sorry Cork.  The best voting record belongs to Ron Paul.  Everyone else in the Republican Primary is a RINO.  One of the things I learned, at an early age, in Vietnam is that you don't vote for RINO's.

Rick Santorum is NO Conservative. Look at the facts about Rick Santorum;

*** Padding his own wallet as a corporate lobbyist at the Expense of taxpayers;

*** Voting to RAISE the debt ceiling five times;

*** Voting to DOUBLE the federal Department of Education;

*** Voting with liberals like Ted Kennedy on multiple occasions in support of Big Labor’s radical agenda;

*** Urging more federal involvement in housing with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac;

*** Voting to create a brand new, unfunded entitlement, Medicare Part D, the largest expansion of entitlement spending since President Lyndon Johnson – creating $16 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities;

*** Endorsing liberal Big Government RINOs like Arlen Specter over conservatives. Of course, Specter later became a Democrat and worked hand-in-glove with President Obama to pass his radical agenda;

*** Voting for Sarbanes-Oxley, which imposed dramatic new job-killing accounting regulations on businesses;

*** Supporting raising taxes on oil companies, which directly costs Americans more money out of their pockets at the gas pump;

*** Voting for gun control;

*** Voting to give Social Security benefits to illegal aliens, while voting against an additional 1,000 border patrol agents;

*** Voting to give $25 million in foreign aid to North Korea;

*** Voting to send hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest provider of abortion – and hand out hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign aid to enemies of Israel.

But unlike many of my other establishment opponents, Rick Santorum isn’t even trying to sweep his Big Government record under the rug.

He’s proud of it!

Vote back in The Constitution–Vote Ron Paul

Hit the wrong button, sorry!

It should have been Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have the best real voting record on Social Values

2) Who has the best record in defending the  2nd Amendment?

(Again it's Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.  Ron Paul, per the National Rifle Association, has a dismal record of supporting and defending the 2nd Amendment and Mit Romney sponsored and signed into law increased restrictions on Hand Gun ownership and increased taxes on the sale of all weapons and ammunition)

3) Who has the best record regarding fiscal responsibility?

(This time it's only Newt Gingrich. He was the Speaker and key advocate of Balanced Budgets giving us 4 years of Balanced Budget. He demonstrated the ability to work with both Republicans and Democrats to make this happen.  Was he always Mr. Nice?  Probably not but he did what was in the best interest of the country.  Rick Santorum's record has some positives but shows not a single bill or resolution to improve fiscal responsibility.  Ron Paul again shows no clear record or indication of where he stands other than great rhetoric... most of it linking the draw down of the entire Military and an isolationist stand on International relations.  I have nothing one way or the other on Mr. Romney.)

4) Who has the best record of making "things happen" and fulfilling campaign promises?

(This is the hardest for me to answer... I can only point to Mr. Gingrich's "Contract with America" that was so popular and a major reason the Republican's were able to take both the Senate and House during the mid-term elections, stopping Bill Clinton in his shoes!  What we do know is that every item in the contract was addressed during the 1st 100 days. Some passed and the Democrats were able to defeat the other.

This year Mr. Gingrich has again drawn up a contract that lays out exactly what he intends to do as President, both form what legislation he will work to introduce and what Executive Actions he'll take immediately after taking office in January 13.  To view his plan go to: http://newtgingrich360.com/contract

I know it appears I'm lobbying for Newt Gingrich. And to a degree that's true. However, each of us will have differing answers as to what we want from a Presidential Candidate for each of these questions. By all means Newt has baggage. In fact he's done and stood for things over his career that I deplore. But so have each of the other candidates. None of them is perfect.  Our job is to make an "Informed" decision and that's why I'm asking each of us to look into the candidates re these questions and the others I hope will be added.

Comment by C.B. "Cork" Motsett on January 23, 2012 at 3:37pm

Selecting which candidate to support requires answering several key questions.  The problem is there are so many critical issues based on the current Administration's attack on the Constitution that some may appear to be conflicting.  To this end I'm offering a few questions and commentary, hoping others will piggy-back on this to add their own questions. If we can expand this list it might help us all determine which candidate best represents the country's ability to return to its original constitutional form.

1) Who has consistently represented the core Social Values most important to the majority of conservatives (Rick Santorium and Newt Gingrich have the best record in Congress. Ron Paul has one of the worst and Mit Romney has done very poorly as Governor)
