FCTP Statement Regarding Duval County Local Elections
We wish Alvin Brown well and expect him to uphold his promise not to raise taxes. We will wait and see how he responds to all citizens’ concerns and requests and how he will communicate with all the people of Duval County.
We also congratulate the winners of the City Council who won and meet the Conservative stance of the tea party movement. We expect them to uphold their promises too and look forward to them getting to work.
We are very sad on two counts today:
- The victory belongs to the Apathy Party which persuaded 63% of the registered voters in Duval County to cast their ballot for their candidate, Mr. I. Don't Care; and there were two losers, Freedom and the City of Jacksonville. The true culprit in the further destruction of liberty is the more than 300,000 registered voters who chose not to be engaged in the election process.
- Living in a city with such an extremely liberal newspaper has become a major issue for Duval County residents. We wish the Times Union would find their way back to the days of a real newspaper filled with investigative articles where their liberal bias did not play a part in the news.
The First Coast Tea Party is here to stay. Our plan moving forward will focus on the 2012 Election. We have much work to do to return our country, state and city to constitutional standards. People are out of work; jobs are few; we have run out of money; spending is out of control; and people are struggling to make ends meet. This is all due to big government intervention and overstepping our constitutional boundaries. How to fix it? Ensure a 2012 win for conservative candidates. That’s our focus and we encourage our members to get ready to work hard to make that happen. We will be discussing our plans to do that with our membership.
The First Coast Tea Party’s mission is to promote the principles of our founding fathers – individual liberty and responsibility, limited government and moral leadership. We are a nonprofit, grassroots group comprised of Americans of all walks of life who contribute their individual skills to the effort. Our primary tools are personal conversations, letters, rallies, visits to the offices of elected officials, telephone calls, discussion groups, educational and informational sessions, media coverage, news releases and independent Tea Party groups. I don't understand how registered voters cannot vote!! It is an honor and a privilege we as Americans should exercise every time an opportunity arises. Never should we take it for granted. Please, God, bless America again.

I don't understand why the Hogan campaign didnt challenge Brown's commercial that the Tiny Union
was a conservative newspaper....!!!! I loved his granddaughters, but I thought he needed to give
more "meat" in his commercials. I didn't get to vote as I live in another country, but I will continue
to work for the good of our country and support the Tea Party

It is really unfortunate that so many citizens did not vote. They can't complain when their freedom goes down the drain, their complacent attitude cost them. I have serious doubts that a democrat will do any good for our city. All they know to do is tax and spend. I wish the new major well if he can run the city without tax and spend but that remains to be seen.

It is clear any JOBs that ALVIN BROWN will usher in is just more of BiG government. Our whole economy has been held up by BIG GOVERNMENT. HOW in the HELL, pardon my language did our entire school system get out of kilter to over 90 plus MILLION dollars? Where are the stewards of our local economy and school system. I spent over 20 plus years donating my time to our educational system and i did NOT take a deduction for it, i gave to the community. Personally i am appalled at all who do so because it helps their bottom line, apparently i am from a older generation who believes in just given back, because it is the right thing to do.

Put the blame on the GOP, DNC, lazy cowford voters and the local news media.
I watched Tom Wills on "news4jax" talking about Brown winning the election and I thought he was going to cry, I guess he got tingles up both legs...
I hope Brown does the city well but I don't like the way he got the job.

Apathy is the devil's bedmate! Don't know if a "third party" is the answer, but too many Republicans have no "fire in their bellies". This is a good post, but how to get our message to the populace in a meaningful format? This election result "got the attention" of many apathetic voters.

You are too nice...be prepared to do battle in the near future. Steamroller to follow this election - as info, the median price of a home in Detroit is now $8,000. Seriously. It only took about 25 years of so-called "inclusive" and "fair" govt. to reach that point. Hope my assessment is wrong, but my assessment of the obama in 2007 was and remains 100% correct.

Billie, I received several phone calls asking me what happened and where was the Tea Party. I just asked what did you do for the election? Did you stand on street corners with signs? Did you help at the phone bank? The Tea Party can't do everything. Not without the participation of members. If you are disappointed in the Tea Party, come to the meetings (none of them attend with any regularity) and help out. Additionally, the Republican party is getting some blame for not doing enough. And to those folks I said then volunteer and help out. There is strength in numbers.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
