My husband and I just returned from the meeting. This was our first time attending these meetings. I came away very disillusioned in the procedures. The councilmen in my opinion don't pay any attention to the people who get up to voice their objections. They walk around and conduct personal business while the person is speaking and then just seem to dismiss whatever was said. If you are not going to sign in to speak you may as well not even attend. We clapped for the speakers and were admonished and told we could not show our support. Or we would be asked to leave. The council voted to tentatively approve the raise in taxes and approve the budget. It is scheduled to come up for another vote on Sept. 28th. Call your councilmen and let them know how you feel. Our city government like our Federal government is getting out of hand and dismissing our wishes.

Arlington meeting tonight, so I can't go to this one, but I have posted the meeting on my facebook page and posted info about city council meetings on a couple of blogs on the "Times Union"............. tonight I understand they will be discussing and or deciding on the property tax increase and surely wish I could be there (even if only to be disappointed in them).

Yes - you can call the office and make sure someone is there. There should be someone available to give you as many as you need.
