The phones are ringing off the hook for tea party interviews regarding the possible Government shutdown. This is the biggest news in a long time and they want to hear from us.
We have our opinion and hope to hear yours.
What do you think about this potential shutdown?
I will be on WTLV from 5:30 - 6:00 on a panel discussing this matter.
I would love to share your thoughts with them.

SHUT IT DOWN!!!
Typical though, putting the military in such a spot...they should forfeit their pay for the military families but I bet they won't.
For those who may not know about the Cato Institute, below is a link to their site where thoughtful investigation and rational suggestions are organized to downsize the federal government. Enjoy the read!
I think you should emphasize the point that this is a Democrat-made problem. They refused to even submit a 2011 budget because they were afraid the American people would see the astronomical spending increases before the November election.
Also point out that the Continuing Resolution is based on a Democrat-made 2010 budget that got zero Republican support. This is the first time in four years that the Republicans have had a chance to affect the budget and they are doing a great job so far.
Billie,
It is the same old somg and dance. The Liberal, Progressives saying people will starve and blah, blah, blah! With 4+ Trillion Dollars and growing, cut programs that have been created since Nobama was elected. There are so many that it is Unreal!!! I really don't think anythimg will happen but if it does, it will be on the Liberal, Progressive Democrat Party's hands, not ours!
Good Luck as I know that you always do a Great job
Butch
I have already written about this on my blog post, "Obama's Attack on Libya Reported to Be Based on Military Doctrine Tied to Soros," and others have commented on that topic as well.
My opinion is that Obama threatened a veto, personally announced "I am going to shut down the government," then held meetings with Reid and Boehner in an effort to, two on one, pressure Boehner into submission to what Obama and Reid demanded with regard to the budget. Obama announced this many days ahead of the deadline for passing a budget, in order to get the widest liberal media coverage as possible in his efforts to pin a shutdown on Republicans. In that personal announcement, Obama took ownership of the shutdown, should it occur, and Republicans should insist that he gets what he already claimed---a shutdown.
Obama did not submit a proposed budget for 2010, and, unconstitutionally, no budget was passed for 2010. It was unconstitutional for the Democrat-controlled Congress to refuse to do their constitutionally-mandated job of passing a budget by the end of fiscal year 2009, for fiscal year 2010. Instead, they operated under continuing resolutions for over a year and they did so for purely political reasons. There is nothing in the Constitution that allows any Congress to not do their mandated job every year, as required.
Democrats had no intention of passing a budget that would in any way reveal their planned mammoth spending spree they intended to obligate American taxpayers to pay for... far into the future. So they did nothing but pass continuing resolutions, even though Republicans in Congress did present responsible proposed budgets to be considered. In response to the Republican budget proposals, the Democrats shut them out of the legislative process with regard to any budget... and pretty much everything else.
For Obama and his puppet Democrats to now try to pin the blame on Republicans, is an exercise in totally insulting the intelligence, consciences, and principles of the American people. Republicans need to give them the ownership of the shutdown that Obama already claimed as his own and has proven he intended to do so all along, in order to give Democrats the opportunity to use the Republicans as a whipping post in the 2012 campaigns by hammering them with having "shut down the government." Which, of course, is totally false and disingeneous.
It's very plain that Obama assumed Republicans would be weak, wimp out, and allow him to continue his spending spree designed to crush the U.S. economy. A weakened government and economy are easier to take over. Plus, he's had George Soros, who has crushed the economies of several other countries, advising and helping him.
The Republicans must stand their ground, give Obama the shutdown he claimed as his own, then put out a continuing robo-dial style laundry list of how Obama and his cronies harmed out troops, trashed our economy, our job market, our bank accounts, our national security, and so on... until the American people on the left side of the fence get it, along with the rest of us who got it when he said it. That's assuming they're capable of getting it... which is questionable.
A few days of a shutdown won't kill us. Everything doesn't shut down. And, when Americans see that the world hasn't come to an end, but we still have no budget passed as is legally required, maybe they will see that the Republican Sheriff has come to town, has braved the Obama assault, and stared down Obama and his allied Democrats in Congress on the budget.
The DEMOCRATIC Congress of 2010 failed to do thier job on 10/01/2010 to approve a budget AND FAILED TO MEET THEIR RESPONSIBLITY.They all are guilty of failure to complete their job assignment of the tax payers and should ALL [DEMOCRATES AND REPUBLICANS ] been fired immediately. Now they still will receive pay STILL with no Budget.THE RULES OF CONGRSS MUST CHANGE!!!!!!!!
Harry Reed is now blaming the Tea Party [not Republicans ] for possibly shutting down the Government to get a good fiscal policy to save the country from spending.
Well , thank God the spineless little man is finally getting the message and YES are we taking responsiblity to do what s right.
with that said then,
Lets change Congress with with this :
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. Term Limits.
12 years only, one of the possible options below..
A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay
when they are out of office.
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social
Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social
Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.
4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans
do.
5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay
will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the
same health care system as the American people.
7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American
people.
8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective
1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.
Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress
is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen
legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to
work.
9. Failure to complete job assignment of a balanced budget at a yearly deadline means immediate job dismissal.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
