Refreshing to see some of these folks in the media call it what it is and at least start pointing out some of these things to the blind followers! It may allow those who hang on "the ones" every word to pause and maybe even begin to think somewhat for themselves. Nothing "forward" about what this guy is doing as he would like to take our people back to what they escaped from in England and Americans fought a war to free themselves from.…

This should be of great concern to everyone in the state of Florida, because this law allows you to defend yourself against someone aiming to cause you harm or trying to kill you. If they weaken it, basically they will be siding with the perpetrator of a crime instead of the victim, and I, for one, believe a strong stand your ground law makes a criminal think twice....................because their victim has rights too! Certainly, this was yet another bill our legislature did a…

This is absurd. We are giving unelected bur.... the right to remove the rights of the people without anything more than their word the person may have done something wrong according to them only? Everyone better wake up as it IS getting worse by the day.

This is a treasonous act. I wonder how much longer this congress will allow Mr. Obama to give money to the enemies of our country and Israel and do nothing. He is destroying us and giving aid and comfort to our enemies on top of that when we are flat broke.

President Obama has overridden Congress to lift the U.S. ban on financial aid to the Palestinian Authority,…

Kenya, from what I understand has now been converted to a Muslim country and socialism with the support of our president (although he was only a senator at the time the tax payers paid for him to go there and meddle in the Kenyan government and get his cousin installed has the prime minister. His use of tax payers money to support another country's socialist system is rather a tell about how well socialism works (it certainly isn't the utopia being painted, is it if, Obama's…

This bill has already passed in the senate and has been sent to the house. This attack on our 2nd amendment rights is very much like what was pulled on the American people to get the 16th amendment passed (and then, they did exactly as they wished and greatly expanded on what they did as far as increasing tax rates on those they deemed as successful and wealthy along with everyone else.............and we have all suffered the results of that horrid mistake of voting in favor of…

This really is an important issue, and Obama can't be allowed to toss the first amendment rights of any religious group. I am glad to see the church take a huge stand on this! Your feelings?

Government has once again created this problem by injecting themselves into the student loan program thereby increasing the costs, and now as a solution, Obama may use it to win votes for himself by sticking the taxpayer with the bill. In essense, even if you would not give this man a dime for his campaign, he may be about to reach out and steal it out of your pocket anyway. Many people lost their jobs when Obama took this over (and here in Jacksonville I know of roughly 150…

Shame on me for being such a skeptic, but isn't this very similiar to the 2 million dollar slush fund the mayor wants for discretionary (unapproved by council) spending? We elect representatives from our area of town, and I prefer spending decisions rest on the city council with an opportunity for public input and a vote by each council member based on what their constituents feel is appropriate. I don't think spending money and huge sums of money should be a unilateral…

First, I think thanks are in order to the Times Union and Mr. Harding for bringing these issues up and making the public aware of them. As always, I also have some thoughts on both these issues, and I hope you will share yours as well. I think the daytime homeless shelter will act as a magnate pulling in even more homeless people and adding to the problem they are trying to solve (which is what usually happens when a government entity gets involved in "charity work" or micro…

I do not wish to transfer power from the city council and our representative government over to the mayor with no oversight and him making big money choices all on his own based on his beliefs about what we should and should not do. That is not representative government at all, and people need to be very concerned as this is not the first attempt by our new mayor to take power away from the city council and the people and invest in the mayor's office with no oversight from the…

More than a word of advise about re-electing this man. He has meddled in things he should not have, and because of his ideologies, he has not made the world a better place or the people who will pay the price for him inflicting himself where he did not belong and should not have due to what could kindly be called a flawed belief system. Madsen has thought supplied information about almost everyone related to Obama and even some of what we believe may be what Obama was and has…

This bill is a huge concern for residents of Duval County and the taxpayers as the original bill if passed with only 10 votes needed, would have given our city council the ability to just pass any spending bill when they chose to do so without meeting the current legal obligation of waiting until the budget or having the new spending included in the budget they operate under. This is huge as things like doggie parks would just get rubber stamped without a care or concern about…

I don't know about any of you, but I can smell another commission coming and a huge price tag in year 2 or 3 as happens with every one of these do gooder projects the city gets involved in, and in fact, right now, the city collects tax dollars from you to use for philanthopy and forces you to pay out of pocket for most of the city services you get and city services is the primary reason for having a city government to start with............otherwise, we don't need them. City…

Every time I hear Obama talk about what the government does that makes our system work and how the government is responsible for the success of the free market system (I get sick). I keep remembering with every increase in the size of government, our free market system becomes a little more crippled and everything costs more! Sorry Obummer, you are dead wrong. Government has never been the solution, it is the problem and right now you, your…

Although the New York Times is a very liberal rag, of late they have had some almost critical commentary about Obama even though a little slant can be detected at times :).
Some method must be found to stop this EO unilateralism from happening again. We put all those new folks in congress to stop "the one" from doing the types of things he was doing, and he thumbed his nose at the American people and went right on doing what we wanted stopped. …

This is quite interesting and very true. Mayor Brown has been showing up at events all over town. We have even seen him pressing the flesh for the last 2 months of cruise ins at the Krystals on Merrill Road. I thought that somewhat strange as the event draws antique cars from Duval but many participants come from well outside Duval county and the city and even some from south Georgia (and has had cars from well outside our state at times), but I guess there are enough locals…

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
