Phyllis Schlafly addresses Federal spending on Education....and it has a simple solution.

Education Spending Has a Simple Solution

by Phyllis Schlafly March 25, 2011

Phyllis Schlafly

As the new Republican House majority wrestles with ways to cut our unsustainable budget deficit, Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet. On March 14 he said: "We cannot cut education."

But why not? If we are going to cut programs that are proven to have failed to achieve their goals, federal spending on education should be at the top of the…

COURTHOUSE/MONROE STREET CLOSURE

There has been much discussion about the closure of Monroe Street. What is to follow is not a comprehesive view of the situation.  This is just a summary with my opinion/viewpoint towards the end.

On one side there is the school of thought that says "Monroe Street should/ must be reopened"   That argument was well stated by Mr. Ted Pappas at the City Council meeting on 2/8/11.  Clink Here for…

GRANTS - why they aren't FREE MONEY.

Imagine your wallet or pocket book with three different compartments.  Now, the local taxes come from one compartment; your state taxes from the second, and the third is your federal taxes.

The money is still coming out and you still have to compensate for having less because there are taxes.  So when there is a grant being requested from the State or Federal Government; it is still your money.

That is  a simplistic view of the situation and not a…

$629,000 FOR ART WORK IN THE COURTHOUSE or 2011-0026

That header is likely enough to get anyone's blood boiling.

The objection to art in the courthouse is that the courthouse is already outrageous and it is not necessary.

There are old courthouse all over the world that have no artwork.

If the people insist, and lobby for there to be artwork in public places then here are some suggestions:

Why can't we get some donations?  JU donated a piece for the TU center and Brunos donated the  money…

Marriage Is the Key to Spending Cuts - From Eagle Forum's January Report

Marriage Is the Key to Spending Cuts

The attack on the institution of marriage is not only the biggest cultural but also the biggest fiscal issue of our times, and political and judicial attacks by gays are only part of the problem. Marriage is being assaulted by unilateral divorce, feminist hostility toward marriage, the bias of family courts against fathers, and the taxpayer-paid financial incentives that subsidize illegitimate births.

Forty-five years…

City Council to consider $800,000 placed below the line during budget meeting.

The Bill is 2010-802; introduced by Corrigan. This is $800,000 for scholarships that can be used at Edward Waters (tuition is about $5000 a semester); JU (about $13,000 per semester); UNF (Less than $3,000) or FSCJ (Formally FCCJ and less than $3,000 per semester).

This is one of the items that was proposed to be cut.

My primary argument against this is that it is not a function of the city to award money for education. They may have done this is the past, but it wasn't… Continue

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
