The Debt Clock: A Sobering Site to Visit

Many of us in the Tea Party Movement have seen the Debt clock and periodically look at it to see where we stand with the amount of our debt.  It is a sobering site to visit.

I took a look this morning and the debt was ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous!

I also discovered some tools I had never noticed before.  I encourage you to take a look at this site and review some of the information such as:

  • Your State Debt Clock which is located at the top left hand corner
  • The top right hand corner will take you back in time to past years’ debt figures or (if you can stomach it) you can look ahead and see what the future projections look like
  • In the middle you can see the Largest Budget items and take notice:  Social programs are funded more than our national security – which is interesting and scary and explains why the Tea Party Movement is alive and well in 2011.
  • The far right column shows unemployment numbers, food stamp recipients, etc.
  • The bottom box shows the assets and liabilities.  Notice:  Assets on a balance sheet in a business should outnumber liabilities or you are bankrupt.  Oh dear!
  • At the very bottom, hit the About button to learn about the Debt Clock and at the end of the About page, click on the Money/Banking History button.  It will take you to a timeline of the history of money and is extremely educational.
  • Other cool tabs hold valuable information too.

While the site is difficult to watch as the numbers rise quicker than you can say “SPIT” it is a site every American should go to on a weekly basis.  It will keep us focused on what the real issues are in our country and we will not be persuaded by smooth talking politicians that spending should be frozen instead of reduced.

There is talk of putting the debt clock on the floor of Congress and we think that is a wonderful idea.  We would also like to suggest President Obama and his staff and all the regulatory agencies display it in their offices.  If they did that, maybe they would wake up too like the members of the tea party did during the bailouts.

Go to http://www.usdebtclock.org/ and take a look around.  I’m not sure you’ll be glad you did but one thing is for sure…you will know what you’re talking about when conversations turn to spending.

The clock is ticking and it’s only a matter of time before we run out of time.

The most sobering number on the debt clock is the one at the bottom for Unfunded Liabilities--$112 TRILLION, which is EIGHT TIMES bigger than the $14 TRILLION national debt. Entitlement programs are sinkin us and have to be reformed.

I think I will go out and spend money today so that I can spend my way out of debt.

That makes perfectly good sense to a liberal. That is why we need to vote them out!

They are missing a screw or two!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
