These folks should not have this kind of power when state lawmakers attempt to do the right thing! This is of note as we have a bill in our state senate (in committee right now....it has passed the house).

This came to me by way of the US Chamber of Commerce newsletter I recieve, but it originated in a Fox news article if you want to link over to it. In the mean time, I will post the Chamber link for you. I don't think there was much doubt that this will be a income creator for the government instead of a boon to help businesses and cut their tax rates...........another smoke and mirrors move by the administration.

I am generally concerned when I see an editorial like this, because it usually means we should all be holding onto our wallets (since doing something with Hemming Plaza was mentioned in the paper a week or 2 ago and this is the second mention). Hemming Plaza is really a very pretty little park with a beautiful water feature and multiple levels. Personally, unlike what Lee is saying, I have never had a problem going into the park or crossing through it, so opinions…

I am glad to see the candidate is making all preparations to buy or lease a home in Duval County. He should have to abide by the rules like everyone else.

Good news as the ethics office and funding moves forward. Mayor Brown is also behind these bills getting passed and everything moving forward.
Carla Miller is endorsed as the director; the council could vote next week.

At the February Beaches FCTP Group Meeting, Councilman Crescinbeni responded to a number of questions from members. The Councilman explained how he was able to manage without a personal Executive Assistant. Although he sometimes uses the services of another Councilperson’s Assistant, Councilman Crescimbeni writes his own emails. He explained that additionally, the 630-CITY/On line feature eliminated the need for memos from the Council to resolve complaints and to request work in their…

The First Coast Tea Party Beaches Group welcomed Duval County City Councilman John Crescimbeni to the February meeting. The At-Large Group 2 Councilman was a delight with such a good message. He spoke in a 15 minute time slot and brought concise information and recommendations.
Among other topics, Councilman Crescimbeni was asked to speak on the city pension funds and attendees felt he did a good job in explaining the principles of the various pension funds and the inherent…

Did anyone ever think a single president, no matter how bad, could get us such a negative reputation all in one term while muddling into every aspect of our lives.................and apparently making just as many bad decisions internationally (which is on of the jobs he actually can claim and his job and the job of our federal government).

Apparently, this bill was not all it could be, but for those of us who didn't know they were actually discussing this, it is a revelation. Governor Scott does not seem to be in favor of the process which I would agree must not be convuluted. Another issue to consider and perhaps weigh in with state legislature about.

Personally, I thank heavens our state legislature is moving on this issue. Although it would mean losing good folks when we may not wish to, it will rid us of the really bad representation as well without it dragging on for years and years and more years. How do you feel about this? It may be time to weigh in with your state representatives and let them know your feelings on this issue.

Say it isn't so................someone who is actually looking at the palace we have installed downtown and called a courthouse, but the possibilities are endless.............so many places he could cut and still provide good city service levels (which is what city government is all about).

Mr. Hollingworth is right, but how to make the changes needed. Perhaps if they can find a new superintendent who focuses on the children and the education process instead of adding more deadwood administrators??? Certainly what they have been doing isn't working, so perhaps it is time to try a different approach?
It’s time for a candid conversation about public education in Duval County.
It’s not working.…

There just appears to be no end to wasting money in the school system. They hear the governor is going to increase education spending, so they dash right out and start thinking about putting 4 more high priced administrators in. What is wrong with these folks when these high priced paper pushers already outnumber teachers by 4 to 5 times. They are just increasing the expense without improving the schools or the learning experience for the children in the…

I wonder if this young lady understands what her testimony makes her look like......and of course, she is there for others and not herself. Give me a break please. She could choose a different law school that isn't Catholic to go to I guess, but forcing the school to go against their beliefs appears to be the choice instead............and everyone who goes to this very pricey school probably has to do some belt tightening as ALL college students do (it's called life and…

Because of the new redistricting laws plus the civil rights laws, our maps may end up doing the very thing the new laws were meant to stop them from doing.................and many voted thinking the laws would get rid of gerrymandered districts only to find out they are put in first and then, the new laws are applied with minor adjustments where required! I had written to the chair of the reapportionment committee about the gerrymandered districts and a response came back about…

This was never an anti sharia law. It was an anti any law but the constitution in the court rooms of Florida and there is a huge difference (at least to me). What is your take?
A bill that would ban courts or other legal authorities from using religious or foreign law as a part of a legal decision or contract was okayed by the House.

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
