Well, I guess it's better than leaving these lots sitting their doing nothing in addition to being off the tax roles (so we have to make up the difference). What are your thoughts?

Finally, these bills were passed, and Carla Miller is the new director after months of doing the job "free" of charge after quitting her job (because she felt so strongly about the need for an ethics commission in our city). This is one very committed lady!

Our religious freedom is under attack by this president. Totally shameful and totally unAmerican.
Priests and deacons are now being allowed, or perhaps even encouraged, to speak to their parishes about the obamacare mandate that will force Catholics to violate their moral consciences.
Obama is treading on thin ice. Attacking the Catholic community in an election year is not a wise move!
Obama cannot take the Catholic vote for granted. In the presidential…

Since when is a person's religion something one considers when hiring them for a job or firing them from a job? We must stop actions like this totally! This must be addressed, and I am hoping some of the citizens reading about this travesty will take appropriate action.
A dentist said in a federal lawsuit he was fired from a job at a Dearborn, Mich., dental office because he is…

This past weekend, many of us celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. We enjoyed being Irish for one day of the year. Like many holidays, St. Patrick’s Day has lost its original meaning. The original intent of St. Patrick’s Day was to celebrate the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Americans began celebrating…

Balance is important, and I have posted another article about this that claims the executive order in question allows for peacetime martial law, so I must also post an opposing view if there is one and there is. This is it. I read through the EO and could believe either of the articles could be right depending on how the person in the oval office viewed them, and we already know everything usually get expanded beyond it's meaning anyway, so you will have to decide how you think…

The truth of all statements should be checked as it is very important when coming from the mouth of anyone in a high position in our country. The information put out to the public in general must always be accurate or anything they say could be considered erroneous over time. This is another example of Obama not getting his facts right..............shameful for any person holding the highest office in the land.
As a sitting…

Another very serious violation of the constitution by our "now" dictator in the white house.
In other words, if a Catholic university like Notre Dame offers students insurance plans, those plans must also, after a one-year transition period, include birth control coverage, despite Catholic doctrine to the contrary.
Jeanne Monahan, director of the Center for Human Dignity at the Family Research Council, blasted the news as a “profound violation…

Gives the government the right to take over all private industry in peace time (not war time.............). Totally unconstitutional. This is not an acceptable action no matter who tries to implement it. This is certainly not about national defence..........that is the guise used to try to make it legal......., it is about total government control of everything and turning us into a communist country.

I wanted all of you to see the response, which I understand was a FORM letter, sent to anyone who thought spending $75,000 on a dog park right now, was not a wise thing to do. I have just finished posting the other articles about money we will owe and future plans for the downtown, so I thought everyone might be able to get their arms around what Councilman Lumb was saying in his response, because it is quite telling and basically says he knows best, this was and is a good idea…

Hang on to your wallets guys. These folks may be "free" but I am betting the plan they come up with won't be for the residents and tax payers of Duval County. I would think, right now, we might have bigger problems than trying to fix the downtown (which many may remember has been in the works for well over the 25 years we have lived here...............and so far, they have spent millions and there is nothing much down there and everything looks pretty much the same). The only…

I can't even say how insane this sounds to me...............nothing more but another entitlement started and used on the youngest folks to get them on the path to expecting money from the government for everything. Ludicrous! Comments please.

From my perspective, we need to say a big thank you to both Councilmen Crescimbeni and Gulliford. The state has now changed the laws regards these appointments, and our city council can make this change legally and should. I think the group currently in charge have not done a good job, and it is time to replace them and get some fresh people and ideas and management of this fund. What is you take?

For those of you following the "doggy park" debacle, one might well understand why this may not be as smooth a discussion as it might otherwise be. It is going to be hard to get our policemen and firemen to take pay cuts and changes in there pensions if the city continues spending money on discretionary expenditures (but somehow, you just can't make them see it as being a wrong thing to do when we have NO money for non essential items).…

Because of the dissention, this may be something folks need to take a look at and weigh in with the Governor, the mayor or both. Certainly, this is a goodly amount of money, and like many other things right now, we can't afford it!

What on earth do these folks think they are doing or where are they going with this? This is not a UN issue in any way shape or form and hardly think the bunch of dictators and tyrants on the human rights council should be telling us how to run our elections since most of them do what Obama would like to do and that is open it up to all including illegal aliens so he can get re-elected by allowing people to vote several times for him. I am pretty sick of these folks as you all…

This is not something anyone who knows anything about our flag or what it stands for would do...........but apparently, the democratic party of Lake City, Florida, doesn't know anything about the flag or what the word desecration means. Not in my life time do I remember a president whose followers have done something like this.

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
