Times Union: Florida third-graders' FCAT scores dip as expected

How can you make a reading test tougher?  At the 3rd grade level, if you are taught how to read, you can read and comprehend pretty much anything written to this age group?   I doubt they are giving them 6th grade stuff, so I guess I wonder if they took the pictures out that the "new reading" method requires?  That would make it tougher to guess what the words are.................   Your thoughts?…

It’s the Obama Campaign. Chronic Overconfidence Is What They Do!

After following the daily TV spots captured by Obama in the name of telling us some things going on in the country (which were nothing more than campaign speaches), the arrogance thing really is an oxymoron, because Obama is nothing if not arrogant.  It seems to be his only talent since we all know he is not capable of fixing anything to do with our country and actually never really intended to................he intended to transform the country into a socialist utopia.......and…

Duval courthouse needs to open soon, chief judge says; new tests could make that happen

This is our "week without sunshine" issue.  What would we do without something about the courthouse and either spending money or yet another "problem"?   Well here we go and here we are; we need some tests to allow them to open this monster up for business.  Although some of us will probably never see the inside of the place, I am sure all those criminals, judges and attorneys are waiting with bated breath for the big event!                 .............and maybe we should take a…

Valerie Jarrett: The real center of Obama's inner circle and corrupt to the core

To understand what the president does and says, it is important to understand the person in the back ground running the circus (and it is a circus).  Valarie Jarrett is the main advisor to both the president and his charming wife and she is pulling the strings on the side show performances by both.  There is a ton more information out there about Ms Jarrett, but these links/stories will give you a pretty good picture of this woman who wields so much power today in our…

Law Of Sea Treaty Hearings Today! Dick Morris TV: Lunch Alert!

This is not good at all.  We have to hope and pray we can stop this from being passed as it has the weight of a constitutional amendment and must be stopped.  You have to go to the link address to watch the video.

Dear Friend,

In this video commentary, I discuss how the Law of the Sea Treaty, which totally erodes our…

Times Union: Bill Bishop elected Jacksonville council president, starting July 1

How does everyone feel about this?  Certainly it was not unexpected as this going by succession anyway from all appearances.

...................................................

President, vice president Gulliford both voted into posts without dissent.

Times Union: Jacksonville council hears from public on gay rights bill

Apparently a rather large group (100 people) got together in advance of the city council meeting and everyone got prepped on what to say in favor of this bill. Parts of this bill are really, really awful, including the parts where they removed references to the US Constitution, because it forces people to hire folks who refuse to behave in a manner that will not be offensive to some of private business' customers by cross dressing or not dressing appropriately for the work place.…

Times Union: City Council Action on 5/22/2012

These are some of the bills that were passed last night at the city council meeting.  I was pleased to see the NEW 1 hour parking meters just recently put in by city hall will be replaced with 4 hour meters, so people can go to city council functions without running to feed a meter every 50 minutes or so.

Times Union: City general counsel: Duval court clerk can't run again because of court decision

An interesting tidbit!   And another hot button issue you may wish to weigh in on.   I must say, as far as the school board goes, this might be a very good thing...............it will get rid of those who have been there more than 2 terms.

..........................................................

The court ruling puts term limits back in place, Laquidara…

Times Union: Duval County School Board examining student discipline

Huh?   Apparently, these guys missed the memo about the FCAT writing scores?   You know those scores they lowered instead of deciding to improve.  Are they serious?  They are looking at discipline problems in the schools; how is that going to help the FCAT scores or is the aim to have well behaved non-writing students?…

Times Union: Jacksonville Historical Society lists 12 sites in danger of being erased

Well worth the read and assuming as a cause if you don't have enough causes already.  Although Jacksonville, for some reason, insists on obliterating anything historic in our city, many other large cities fight to keep these building and  historic landmarks in good repair and used even if not for the original intent.  Those that run our city, apparently, are unaware of cities such as Savannah, Charleston, New Orleans, and countless other cities that have beautiful cites where old…

Times Union: Mayor Alvin Brown's position on Jacksonville human rights ordinance could be tricky

This is definitely a hot button issue and one where almost no one has a middle ground.  You either are all in or all out, and I wouldn't have touched this with a 10 foot pole.  Better to have just left it alone, because you can't legislate acceptable to something someone is apposed to and those who accept the lifestyle already accept it.  It is a matter of religion, and it puts our city government in the position of telling some folks what their religious beliefs can be which…

The Lonely Conservative: Creepy, Narcissist Obama Inserts His Own Propaganda Into White House Presidential Biographies

If you have not weighed in on this, you might want to consider doing so. Apparently Obama never got the memo about being a very small part of a much, much bigger picture, and personally, I think history will count him as one of the worst president's in American history!  Only a total fool so tied up in self love could even consider doing such an un presidential thing as to re-write presidential history for every president save one and include he or the G-String underwear…

Human Events: Feds consider adding poisonous rattlesnake to endangered species list

The environmental lunies are at it again.  The rattlesnake, according to the article is not endangered, so why would they add it to the endangered species list???   Here's a thought, let's dump them all into the yards of these folks that want to protect them shall we. If you live somewhere rattlesnakes are prevalent, they get killed because they endanger people, children and live stock and other animals and are dangerous.  How's the saying go about…

Times Union: Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund study expected to increase city's contribution

And this comes as news to who???   They should have been making the contributions annually and now we will get lambasted this year wtih an increase and mandatory payment!  Glad we don't run our households the way this city runs the city government.  A mayor who is more worried about social programs than about the solvency of our city and a city council that is spending on discretionary projects.  You gotta love it!!…

Future medicare Costs- Right out of your pocket

As Gomer would say, Sooprazz Sooprazz!!!

MEDICARE

Look clearly at the 2014 rate compared to the 2013 rate.

For those of you who are on Medicare, read the following. It's short, but

important and you probably haven't heard about it in the Mainstream News:

"The per person Medicare Insurance Premium will increase from the present

Monthly Fee of $96.40, rising to:

$104.20 in 2012

$120.20 in 2013

And

$247.00 in 2014."

These are…

Times Union: City, charitable programs help Jacksonville teens gain work skills

These groups could very well have gone out on their own, set their own criteria for eligability and the like, but they are for some reason giving the money to the mayor and letting him decide?  Why?  Getting the government out of this mix would seem the rational thing to do given the amount of money the government usually skims off the top to run a program and hire people!  And although some of this looks good, 1 day and an overnight at a college is not exactly life…

Apathy

APATHY

Caused us to look away lo these past few decades. While we were looking away the enemy penetrated deep into the sacred institutions of our Country.

We now must not only fight, but fight with uncommon courage. The task before us is for the Bravehearts, not the Fainthearts. It is a fight that puts aside personal concern, and calls us to a Higher Plain. A Plain of Sacrifice, Nobility, and Courage.

These Virtues reside in all men. God placed them there. If you have not…

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
